Brief Biography
I am an associate professor in the psychology department, specializing in applied cognitive psychology. My research interests broadly are at the intersection of psychology and the legal system, with a particular interest in higher order cognitive processes (memory, decision making, jugdment, cognitive biases). My current work is focued on understanding decision making processes online. I am investigating how consuming news headlines about violent events, such as mass shootings, affects people's mental health, participation in activism, political attitudes, and future decision-making about engaging with online content. My current work also investigates how existing societal stereotypes about culture and race affect people's decision-making processes, memory, and affective processes when interacting with police officers. A few examples of conferences that I attend with my students include the American Psychology-Law Society, Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition, Western Psychological Association.
