Andrew Oppenberg, DPS, MPH, CPHRM, DFASHRM, HEC-C, has decades of experience in healthcare as a physician/hospital risk manager, bioethicist and senior risk management executive. As a hospital risk manager, he managed Serious Safety Events, Medical Malpractice and performed bioethics consultations. Dr. Oppenberg also oversaw a 4 Hospital Institutional Review Board (IRB) for Human Subjects Medical Research. He is past president of both the local and national risk management associations, SCAHRM and ASHRM. He is a community member/bioethicist for Glendale Memorial’s Bioethics Committee/ Response team, a Distinguished Fellow (DFASHRM) and Distinguished Service Award recipient of ASHRM and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk management (CPHRM). Dr. Oppenberg’s consultancy firm, Asclepius Bioethics, ERM and Pt. Safety Consultants, focuses on Bioethics, Enterprise Risk Management, IRB Human/Subjects Research, CME and expert witness services. Dr. Oppenberg has over 8 years’ clinical and medical research experience and has written numerous articles/chapters in peer reviewed journals/textbooks. He Just received his Doctorate in Professional Studies (DPS) in Biomedical Ethics/Public Policy from the Albany Medical College and was recently certified as a Healthcare Ethics Consultant (HEC-C). Besides his consulting practice/ professional association passions, Dr. Oppenberg was a preceptor and has taught part time in Health Admin. since 2015 and loves to teach!!
