Brief Biography
Betsy Edelberg is a CSUN graduate and a committed CADV lecturer who makes complex theories clear, engaging, and relevant. She helps students see the impact of their learning on children, families, and their own careers.
In her CADV courses, Betsy emphasizes evidence-based research and theoretical frameworks, including ecological systems theory, attachment theory, and contemporary approaches to social emotional learning. Through hands-on activities, case studies, and reflective assignments, she encourages students to think critically, understand diverse perspectives, and develop skills they can apply immediately in professional settings.
Betsy also teaches in Academic First Year Experiences (AYFE), supporting students as they transition to higher education and fostering confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging. Her decades of experience in educational and community settings allow her to share real-world insights, practical strategies, and mentorship that inspire students to grow academically and personally.
Betsy holds a MSc in Family and Human Development, a BS in Child and Adolescent Development, and an AS in Child Development and Early Childhood Education. She is deeply committed to mentoring emerging professionals and empowering students to apply evidence-based strategies, reflective practice, and critical thinking to positively impact the communities they serve.
