Blaine Pope is currently a lecturer in the Management Department, where he as taught international business and as well as the business capstone course. Pope previously taught "The Political-Economy of Energy Resources,"​ in the University of Redlands Department of Sociology & Anthropology. Pope previously worked with SSI, Inc. as Consultant / Trainer. This involved working with a population of highly specialized students in the US Navy Special Warfare Command, bringing each cohort to basic conversational-level Swahili in just 6 weeks.

Blaine Pope has also worked at the USC Center for Sustainable Cities / Geography Department (focusing on the environment). Prior to that, Pope worked at both UC Santa Barbara Global Studies Program, and, at the Earth Institute, Columbia University. At Columbia Pope taught environmental science and policy. Focus: planning, programming, budgeting, policy analysis, executive briefings, while having students work with real-world clients. Pope has worked in Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East, managing a wide range programs in emergency relief, public health, natural resources management, and economic development.

Pope holds a BA from the University of California at Berkeley, and dual masters degrees in public administration (MPA) and international affairs (MIA) from Columbia University. He also holds a third masters plus a doctoral degree in organization development (M.A. & Ph.D.) from Fielding Graduate University.
