Brief Biography

She holds a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction: Cultural Studies in Education with a graduate portfolio in Mexican American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Carla has a master's degree from the University of Arizona and a bachelor's degree from Gallaudet University. Carla’s research interests center around intersectionality, social justice—particularly in education, critical race studies, Deaf-Chicanx & Latinx critical studies, and Ethnic Studies. In Carla’s free time, she values spending time with her familia, unearthing the roots of her familia tree, and she truly enjoys the beautiful great outdoors as a way to stay spiritually connected to Mother Earth.
