Cecillia Barron

Brief Biography
Cecillia Barron earned her B.A. and her M.A. in Sociology from California State University, Northridge. Professor Barron started teaching in 2014 and has taught many classes in the Criminology & Justice Studies department and the Sociology department. She also teaches in the Sociology department at College of the Canyons and has taught at LAVC and CLU. Prior to becoming a teacher, Professor Barron worked for the Los Angeles County Probation department as a Deputy Probation Officer II, where she worked with juvenile and adult offenders. She has had the privilege of publishing research articles with a colleague in the Sociology department, at CSU Northridge, on transgender children and their families. Professor Barron has many current interests, including, gender and crime, juvenile delinquency, community corrections, teaching criminology from a critical perspective, and teaching students how to apply sociological and criminological theory to their everyday lives.
