Brief Biography
Dr. Chan Hee Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). He earned his B.S. in Environmental Biology from Korea University, his M.S. in Molecular Biology from Seoul National University, and his Ph.D. in Animal Biology from the University of California, Davis (Mentor: Dietmar Kueltz). Before joining CSUN, he completed postdoctoral training in environmental toxicology and functional genomics at the University of Florida (Mentor: Chris Vulpe).
His research combines CRISPR-based functional toxicogenomics, three-dimensional cell culture models, and molecular profiling to understand how environmental chemicals affect cellular health. He is particularly interested in the genetic factors that influence susceptibility to PFAS ("forever chemicals") and other toxicants (e.g., micro/nano plastics, pesticides, disinfectants, etc.).
