Connie Wong teaches classes related to early childhood special education. Her current research focuses on the early development of social-cognitive skills with specific interest in the the development of symbolic play, joint attention, and problem solving in children with autism and other developmental delays in the context of child-family interactions and classroom settings. Prior to joining the CSUN faculty, Dr. Wong conducted research at the Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute at UNC Chapel Hill and at the Child & Adolescent Services Research Center at UC San Diego/Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. She received her doctorate in Psychological Studies in Education from UCLA and her other experiences include teaching in early childhood special education classrooms for young children with disabilities in the public schools and working as an assistant professor of special education in the Department of Teacher Education at Cleveland State University in Ohio.
