Brief Biography
As an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at CSUN, I teach and research sociological issues related to race/racisms, immigration, urbanism, labor, politics/state power, and capitalist globalization.
I was raised by Mexican immigrant parents in the Northeast San Fernando Valley, graduated from James Monroe High School in North Hills, and received my BA, MA, and PhD in Sociology at UC Santa Barbara. Before CSUN, I was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver.
