Brief Biography
Professor Marlett has a passion for teaching, having taught many undergraduate, graduate, and law school courses including Media Law, Negotiations, Media Regulations, Agency, Copyright Law, Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate Law, Property Law, Contracts, etc. He enjoys working with students -- helping them achieve their highest goals. As a result, CSUN has awarded him the Exceptional Levels of Service to Students Award. Professor Marlett has a fascination for the human story within the law and the power of shifting narratives in society. He has over 20 years of legal practice experience across a range of matters, with most centering on media, transactional, and general business concerns. He is an award-winning storyteller and a bestselling author of novels. He has many years of experience in the film industry, particularly in film finance and in writing screenplays. Further, he is an innovator in new media, having written and directed the world’s first VR feature film in partnership with Samsung. He enjoys getting into the mountains with Bonny, his brilliant border collie.
