Serving the CSUN students through fostering critical thinking, providing mental challenges, and serving on multiple department, college and university committees is my passion. "We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are" -Max DePree.
My training and research focus on nutritional deficiencies, specifically selenium and vitamin C, in chronic kidney disease and dialysis patients. I serve on the medical advisory board for the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona (NKF AZ) and on the Board of Directors for the CardioRenal Society of America. I've partnered with the NKF AZ to evaluate the effectiveness of their nutrition assistance program.
I also serve my profession as the elected treasurer for the national Renal Dietitians Practice Group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Publications Chair for the National Kidney Foundation’s Council on Renal Nutrition, and on the Congress and Publication committees of the International Society of Renal Nutrition and Metabolism.
