Brief Biography
Emily E. Prior, MA (she/her) is a Sociology Adjunct at CSUN, and the Founder and Executive Director for the Center for Positive Sexuality. As well as being a queer femme and many other roles, she has been teaching formal and informal classes about a variety of topics including Human Sexuality, Gender, Deviance, Relationships and Family, Aging, and Feminism for almost 30 years. Her work primarily focuses on the intersection of marginalized identities and social norms. She is an interdisciplinary social scientist and adjunct professor at several colleges and universities, has over three dozen publications, and presents at conferences around the U.S.
She recently co-edited "Positive Sexuality: A Promising Future for Sex Research, Education, and Practice" available through Routledge, published in 2025.
