Brief Biography
Professor Yip, MM, MT-BC is the Director of the Music Therapy Program and a board-certified music therapist with over a decade of experience, with a focus in Neurologic Music Therapy. She has provided music therapy services in schools, hospitals, and community settings across Texas, Florida, California, and New York, working with people of all ages, from infants to older adults.
Her work has supported individuals with autism, developmental delays, learning and communication disorders, psychiatric conditions, cancer, and Parkinson’s disease. In addition to her clinical practice, Professor Yip teaches adaptive piano and guitar lessons, helping students of all abilities engage in music making.
Professor Yip earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Therapy and Psychology from the University of the Pacific, and a Master of Music in Music Therapy from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. She is currently completing a Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis in Music Therapy at the Frost School, where her research focuses on how music and movement can support motor development in children with autism.
