Hratch J Karakachian is a lecturer in the Department of Financial, Financial Planning & Insurance at the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics at California State University, Northridge having joined in the Fall of 2021. He teaches courses on income tax, estate planning and personal finance to undergraduates.
Hratch is a certified public accountant as well as an attorney practicing in the areas of tax compliance and planning as well as estate & gift tax planning and drafting. Hratch works with individuals and families advising them on efficient and effective tax and estate planning startegies. Prior to establishing his solo practice in 2008, he was a senior manager at Deloitte Tax LLP.
Hratch is very active in the legal community as chair of the Taxation Law Section of the San Fernando Valley Bar Association, a board member of the San Fernando Valley Estate Planning Council and the American Academy of Attorney CPAs. He also volunteers his time as a board member of the St. Thomas More Society of Los Angeles which sponsors the annual Los Angeles Red Mass and of the Armenian Film Foundation.
A certified specialist in taxation law by the State Bar of California, Hratch earned a Juris Doctor from the University of West Los Angeles; a Master of Business Taxation, a Bachelor of Science in accounting, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, all from the University of Southern California.
