Brief Biography
As a former Adapted Physical Education Teacher and Administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District, I believe I bring vast amounts of knowledge and practical experience into the special education process. I graduated from CSUN and truly believed that I could come back to this university as a lecturer to enhance student learning in a positive and productive way.
I spent four years in the service honing my leadership skills. My specialty was Special Operations in the field of search and rescue in which I am currently on the Ventura County Sheriff's Underwater Search and Rescue Team. I have taught SCUBA diving classes at every level for 44 years from basic, advance, military, and to individuals with disabilities out of Shriner's hospital and the veteran's association.
I currently am a track and field starter in which we are blending athletes with disabilities into running events and field events with and without modifications and accommodations. I have been teaching classes here at CSUN since 2007 and truly enjoy the interaction with my students. My dream is to enlighten students on how Adapted Physical Education fits into the spectrum of special education. The jobs are plentiful for Adapted Physical Educators, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists as they all have the same background in kinesiology and perform special programs for individuals with disabilities in an educational environment.
