John Pak, an alumnus of the Deaf Studies Department in 2016, earned his B.A. in Deaf Studies/Psychology and further pursued his M. Ed. at CSUN in Educational Leadership & Policy Studies - Higher Education in 2018. John is currently pursuing his doctorates degree at UCLA's Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, specializing in Race, Ethnic, and Cultural Studies. At UCLA, he is currently a Research Associate at the Center for Critical Race Studies. His research delves into the intersection of audism and racism with other forms of subordination. His research concentrates on the impact of microaggressions towards Deaf Students of Color, both within academic and social settings. He is deeply invested in exploring concepts that extend to Critical Race Theory, Deaf Critical Theory, intersectionality, and counterstorytelling to better understand and advocate for marginalized communities, specifically Deaf Communities of Color.

His relaxed nature extends to his preference for walking over running, a delightful quirk that sets him apart. If you see him strolling between classes, rest assured that he's not late but rather he's just tired of running.
