Brief Biography

Professor Joon Seok Moon joined California State University, Northridge in August 2019, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems. He earned a Ph.D. in Accounting from The George Washington University School of Business in 2019. Professor Moon graduated summa cum lade from Hanyang University with a major in Business Administration and earned an MS in Applied Statistics from Michigan State University. He also attained MS in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to entering academia, he worked as a senior associate at KPMG LLP, Los Angeles, in the audit practice. At KPMG, he specialized in the audit of banking and consumer market industries. His primary research interests are in the area of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), economic consequences of financial reporting and disclosure, managerial discretion, accounting standard, and corporate social responsibility.
