Professor Brusasco earned a Doctor of Education degree (EdD) from University of Southern California (USC) Rossier of Education in Educational Leadership. She has a Master's of Science degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with an emphasis in Family Studies from California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Drama from the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle. She is a Certified Family Life Educator (CLFE) from the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR). She has been teaching at CSUN since 2008 in FCS and 2011 in CADV.
Professor Brusasco also serves as an Academic Technology Fellow. In 2020, Joyce Marie was part of the team to develop training for HyFlex teaching practices with collaboration with Academic Technogogy and Faculty Development. She has worked on training faculty on Canvas Insights (CI), the Canvas Insights Equity Gap Dashboard, and continues to facilitate faculty workshops on Artifical Intelligence in education.
