Brief Biography
Judy Korin is a documentary producer and educator who leads the documentary production option at CSUN. Fusing her deep experience in filmmaking and graphic design, her specialty is creating visually powerful and socially impactful works. Most recently Judy produced the feature length documentary ADRIFT (2023), about the global refugee crisis, with Rory Kennedy’s Moxie Films. Previously she produced REBEL HEARTS (2021), which made its world premiere in the US documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival and is now streaming on max, and THE GREAT HACK (Netflix, 2019), which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, made the Academy Award shortlist, was BAFTA-, Grierson- and Emmy-nominated, and won a Cinema Eye Honors Award. She produced the documentary series THE LINCOLN PROJECT (Showtime, 2022) and was a Creative Director for THE VOW PART II (HBO, 2022). She also co-produced BENDING THE ARC (Sundance 2017, currently on Netflix), and directed the International Documentary Association and Emmy Award nominee, A CENTURY OF WOMEN (1994).
A six-time Emmy nominee, her films have won support from Sundance, the Catapult Film Fund, Film Independent, XTR, quiet, Level Forward, and Impact Partners among others. Judy received her MFA from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts, and her BA from Wesleyan University. She has also taught filmmaking at Venice Arts, New York Film Academy/Los Angeles and Otis College of Art and Design.
