Karen is an accomplished marketing professional with a wealth of experience in the industry. With a background in business, strategy, and leadership, Karen is eager to share her expertise as a part-time professor in the marketing and business fields. She boasts extensive experience in the corporate world and her business venture, Kanda™ Chocolates.
As the founder and CEO of Kanda™ Chocolates, a certified benefit corporation, Karen has a strong track record of developing and executing strategic business models through global partnerships, with a current focus on Ghana. The company's mission is to bring awareness to the superior quality of chocolate made in Ghana. The company maintains operations in Ghana, purchases fair-trade cocoa, offsets carbon emissions, and donates a portion of its proceeds to charitable organizations.
Karen is well-versed in teaching various marketing subjects and has had great success in her teaching roles at CSUN and CSULA. Before her entrepreneurial endeavors, she was a healthcare leader for over 15 years and held leadership roles in Marketing, Strategy, Sales, Quality, and Operations.
In addition to her professional experience, Karen is deeply committed to service and currently serves as a Board Member and Board Treasurer for the Social Justice Learning Institute in Inglewood, CA.
Her academic credentials include an M.B.A. from Webster University and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Northern Illinois University.
