I earned my Ph.D. Mathematics at The University of Pennsylvania in 1994 and have been a professor of Mathematics at CSUN since 2001. I am currently the chair of the Mathematics Department at CSUN. I enjoy teaching our majors how to communicate mathematics in our Foundations class, Math 320, and I also find it deeply gratifying to work with students and colleagues from across campus as they navigate general education math. That work extends into K-12 where I oversee a collaboration with LAUSD to provide professional development to 60 instructors who teach "Transition to College Mathematics and Statistics." This class was designed to reengage students in mathematics and prepare them for post-secondary study in mathematics. It serves over 4000 students.

I have served on the Education Resources Committee for five years and chaired it from 2021 to 2022, when we advised CSUN on HEERF allocations. I Chair the CSU Math Council of Chairs and through that position I remain active in redesigning high failure rate, multi-section math courses across the CSU.

I received the CSUN outstanding teaching award in 2008 and the College of Science and Math outstanding service award in 2015. Beyond the CSU, I served for 3 years as the chair of the American Mathematical Society's Committee on Education and I sit on the Education Advisory Board of the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute on UC Berkeley's campus. I am a 26 year resident of Altadena and am a passionate gardener.
