Brief Biography
Kristin King, ASID, IDEC, IALD, NCIDQ is Principal of KKID, a bi-coastal, multi-disciplinary design practice, and Associate Professor of Interior Design. Kristin combines her expertise in interior and lighting design with an emphasis on human-centered learning environments reinforcing the role of material, sensory, and construction systems in shaping human experience. Kristin’s research delves into how environments influence well-being. Her current project, Rethinking the Classroom Through a Trauma-Informed Lens, uses immersive tools and environmental psychology to inform design. She most recently contributed a chapter to Reconstructing Perceptions of Systemically Marginalized Groups, highlighting strategies to support underserved students. Kristin’s broader research positions design as both a pedagogical and equity-driven tool for change.
