Laura Velazquez Garcia
Lecturer
Faculty - Child and Adolescent Development
Brief Biography
My name is Laura Velazquez Garcia and I am an early education advocate, professional, and professor. I earned both my Bachelor's degree and my Master's degree at CSUN--I am a proud Matador. I was born in Mexico and I have experienced being a DREAMER and an AB540 student. I love my culture and I am grateful for all of my struggles and accomplishments. I am a vegetarian and a "dog mom." I have four dogs that I absolutely love and I am married to my high school sweetheart! In my classes, you undoubtedly will feel like you know my dogs because I cannot stop talking about them! I love to incorporate personal experiences into teaching, and I enjoy learning all about different backgrounds. The outdoors is my outlet, I hike daily and I love to get lost in nature. My bucket list includes traveling and visiting different parts of the world. This is my first semester as an instructor I am more excited than ever to teach and mentor students at CSUN. If you see me on campus, please stop and say "hello"--I love meeting and talking with students.
