
Brief Biography
Leah Marcal has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She currently teaches microeconomics, international trade, and business strategy at CSUN. Leah previously served as the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics assessment director. She has worked as an assessment consultant for several universities in California and for Al Buraimi University College in Oman. She has published numerous academic articles on student performance in business and economics courses. Prior to working at CSUN, she was a visiting scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank in Dallas. Her research there examined the impact of federal retraining programs on trade-displaced workers. Her current research interests include the socioeconomic wellbeing of sexual minorities.
Leah lives in Thousand Oaks with her husband of 29 years and her 14-year-old twins. She grew up near Bass Lake, CA, and loves to garden and hike.
