Brief Biography
Lily Bartenstein is a scenic, props, lighting, and video designer for theatre and live performance based in Los Angeles. She completed her undergraduate degree at The University of Chicago, where she participated as a student leader in the co-curricular University Theatre program and interned at Court Theatre. After college, she returned to Louisville where she managed the Martin Experimental Theatre at the Kentucky Center for Performing Arts, renewing the community-centered venue's educational focus. In 2012 she moved to San Diego to pursue her MFA in Scenic Design at UCSD. In addition to her professional design work, she has taught at Pomona College, Cal Poly Pomona, CSArts San Gabriel Valley, and CalState LA, and designed at many other academic institutions since moving to LA in 2015.
Recent work includes: Yellow Face (scenic design, UC Riverside), The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (video design, Chapman University), Head Over Heels (scenic design, Pomona College), Kim's Convenience (projection design, Laguna Playhouse), Who Are You (lighting design, Greenway Court Theatre), Lizastrata (props, Troubadour Theatre Company at the Getty Villa, winner of LA Drama Critics Circle Award).
