Luis O. Curiel, DSW, MSW, LCSW earned his Doctorate in Social Work (DSW), in social work education, from the University of St. Thomas, and his MSW degree from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Dr. Curiel joined the CSUN faculty in the spring of 2011 and currently serves as a CalSWEC Consultant, Lecturer and Field Liaison. During his tenure at CSUN, Dr. Curiel has served as Coordinator for the LA County, Inter-University Consortium, Child Welfare Stipend program where he supervised and trained MSW students entering the public child welfare branch of social work practice. Dr. Curiel's child welfare and community mental health experience includes working as a Children's Social Worker for the Los Angeles County, Department of Children and Family Services. Dr. Curiel's experience also includes working with the medically fragile/terminally ill child and adolescent population through his work with the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House of Charities non-profit organization. In addition, he has worked as a Bi-lingual, In-Home Outreach Counselor providing Family Preservation services to Spanish-speaking families under the supervision of the Department of Children and Family Services.
