Brief Biography
Mahdi Najafabadi (Dr. N) from the Department of Systems and Operations Management, teaches various Information Systems (IS) courses emphasizing topics such as systems analysis and design, database systems, computer networks, cybersecurity, and IS project management. He is also affiliated with CSUN’s Master of Public Administration program where he teaches Research Methods and Public Sector Project Management.
Dr. N’s interdisciplinary research portfolio revolves around how modern-day tools and technologies can enhance sustainable decision processes in sociotechnical ecosystems at different levels, ranging from individuals and small teams to corporations, communities, and (smart) cities. He utilizes systems thinking, simulation modeling, and social network analysis for education and decision-support.
Dr. N is an experienced management consultant in strategic planning and performance review, developing and deploying technology solutions, enhancing project management practices, auditing organizational policies and guidelines, and acting as a business process change agent. He has earned his Ph.D. from State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany in Information, Government, and Democratic Society and Data Analytics. He has a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Rockefeller College (SUNY Albany) specializing in IT Strategy and Management. He has also studied MBA and Software Engineering, enabling effective communication with both technical and managerial teams.
