
Brief Biography
Marta Valier is a journalist, curator, and professor with a background in international journalism and cultural projects, serving on the faculty at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). In addition to teaching Freshman Experience, she also teaches photojournalism, multimedia storytelling, and feature writing, helping students develop their skills as storytellers and learners.
Beyond the classroom, Marta collaborates with the Tom & Ethel Bradley Center at CSUN, where she curates exhibitions, produces podcasts, and leads creative projects that highlight stories of resilience, culture, and social justice. Originally from Italy, she has written for major international outlets and curated photographic archives and exhibitions in both Europe and the U.S.
She is dedicated to supporting students as they navigate the challenges of their first semester, encouraging them to explore, grow, and succeed in both their studies and personal journey.
