Brief Biography
Dr. Mu-Sheng “Shane” Chang is a professor of finance and insurance at the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics of California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Dr. Chang has been on the faculty at CSUN since 2011. He received his Ph.D. from Temple University and his MBA from the University of Southern California. Dr. Chang's research focuses on alternative risk transfer techniques in captive insurance and self-insurance. His research has appeared in the Applied Economics, Journal of Insurance Regulation, Journal of Insurance Issues, and Asia-Pacific Journal of Risk and Insurance, among others. His teaching interests are in the areas of risk management and insurance (RMI) and investments. Dr. Chang serves as the associate director of the Center for RMI at CSUN. He is currently serving on the Board of Governors of the Asian-Pacific Risk and Insurance Association (APRIA), as well as on the proposal review committees of the annual meeting of APRIA and the American Risk and Insurance Association (ARIA), respectively. He was on the board of the Southern Risk and Insurance Association from 2016 to 2019. He is also a member of the Western Risk and Insurance Association, and Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS). The Los Angeles Chapter of RIMS (LA RIMS) presented Dr. Chang with a "Special Recognition Award 2019", for his years of supporting the Chapter and its members, as well as educating CSUN students interested in RMI.
