Dr. Nayan G. Ramírez (he/him/él) is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Justice Studies at California State University, Northridge. His research examines how adolescent relationships, peer networks, and structural inequalities shape youth experiences in education, crime, and the transition to adulthood, with particular attention to friendship, sexuality, and belonging during adolescence and early adulthood.
He teaches courses in juvenile justice, statistics, criminological theory, peer mentoring, and applied research methods, and is committed to equity-minded pedagogy and mentoring that foster student success. He also serves as Faculty Coordinator of the CJS Academic Support Center and has held leadership roles in faculty development and equity initiatives across campus.
