Brief Biography
Dr. Paula DiMarco is a design educator, researcher, and graphic artist interested in social awareness in visual
culture design. Dr. D. (as her students call her) has taught several graphic design classes and the History of
Graphic Arts course. She has worked for over 20 years in design education and has promoted the social
responsibility of artists and designers. Initially from the east coast, Dr. Di Marco worked independently as a
graphic designer for Met Life, MTV, SPIN Magazine, and various design studios in New York City. She is
currently involved in design solutions for several non-profit organizations and has ventured into a partnership with The Museum of Social Justice art directing exhibition design projects around social issues. Dr. DiMarco believes in the importance of graphic art for social causes. She aims to humanize graphic art and design through didactic and
reflective imagery in a visual culture society.
