Roxanne Moschetti

Brief Biography

Dr. Moschetti received her Ph.D. and Master's degree at the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Chico. She began teaching at Cal State Northridge as a lecturer in 2008. In 2011, she joined the tenure-line faculty after completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz, Germany. Dr. Moschetti’s research focuses on examining factors that relate to positive adjustment of youth and young adults from marginalized populations (e.g., first generation college students, students experiencing homelessness and/or food insecurity). She is particularly interested in identifying ways to develop a campus culture of awareness and response to be able to better identify and support the specific needs and experiences of students struggling with issues related to poverty and/or mental health. She has a background in different research methodologies including program evaluation, focus groups, interviews and surveys. Her teaching specialties include: developmental impacts of abuse and neglect, poverty and development, emerging adulthood and advanced theories in child and adolescent development. Dr. Moschetti is also currently writing a book about her experiences growing up homeless and her journey into the world of academia.
