Advancing Professional Competencies of Graduate Nutrition Students in the Area of Lactation Education

The purpose of this project proposed by California State University, Northridge is to increase recruitment and graduation rate of Hispanic nutrition graduate students and to advance their professional competencies in the area of breastfeeding education. Our project aims to address the under-representation of Hispanics in the nutrition and dietetic profession and the corresponding under-representation of Hispanics students in our graduate nutrition program. Further, this project aims to address the low graduation rate of graduate Hispanic students in the graduate nutrition program. Finally, this project aims to address the need of nutrition and dietetics professionals to become more knowledgeable and skilled in the area of breastfeeding promotion and education.
