Special Education Division?s ? federal Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) ? State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) application ? for California?s Adolescent Literacy Initiative (CALI) as the SPDG for California ? administered through a subgrant with the Napa County Office of Education o to subcontract with The University Corporation, CSUN for the following training activities CSUN IHE Partner Activities ? Training Development, Presentation, and Follow-up Support Develop and present webinars/videos for Content Area teachers, including content on: ? webinar on vocabulary and morphemic analysis, differentiated by content area ? comprehension webinar (student led, small group) ? word study Develop and present webinars/videos for the Intervention Teachers, including content on: ? Overview of a good intervention program ? Overview of the components (comprehension and decoding) ? Reciprocal teaching (two short webinars) ? Vocabulary ? Structural analysis ? Word Builder (the app) Videos Modeling the Use of Strategies in the Classroom for the primary strategies presented, at least three Ongoing Coaching for CALI Coaches and SE Teachers Provide ongoing coaching support through webinars/Zoom, email, and in the Learning Management System (LMS) once initial training has been provided Update Word Builder app word study content for training middle school level readers Word selection and development for new modules focused on middle school academic vocabulary Book Club selections Review and pick books that are appropriate to basic middle school readers living in diverse communities
