CSUN's Better Together: CA Teacher Summit 2016

The 2016 Better Together: California Teachers Summit on Friday, July 29, 2016 is an opportunity for our alumni, partners, and teacher candidates to collaborate with colleagues and gain resources and tools to implement Common Core State Standards. This event will be held simultaneously at all CSU Campuses with a goal for the CSU to host over 10,000 teachers at our various campuses where educators can collaborate in an exciting day of learning. The event includes the following events to provide teachers and alumni of CSUN an inspirational day of learning and collaboration: I. EdTalks- EdTalks (which are created to be like TED Talks) will be held at CSUN with a total of 3 local teachers who will provide an inspirational talk on teaching to CSUN alumni and students. Last year's EdTalk included Rebecca Mieliwocki, award winning CSUN alumni who has received recognition as a National Teacher of the Year Award in 2012 from President Barack Obama. II. Keynotes- Keynotes are celebrities who are selected to give a talk that is inspirational for all teachers who attend. They will not be present at CSUN, but will be telecasted via a livestream. Last year the Keynotes were actress, Yvette Nicole Brown and NASA astronaut, Leland Melvin. III. Ed Camp- This model was included in last year's Better Together: CA Teacher Summit at CSUN and it included breakouts of teachers who discuss various topics that deal with teaching, teaching resources, and techniques.
