This proposal requests funds to expand and strengthen the research and educational activities of the multidisciplinary W. M. Keck Computational Materials Theory Center (CMTC) at California State University Northridge (CSUN), a non-Ph.D minority-serving institution, by forming a formal and long-term collaborative relationship with the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter (IQIM), an NSF-funded Physics Frontiers Center at Caltech.This proposal aims in addressing fundamental problems in quantum systems that have vital scientific and technological importance. We will tackle problems in driven and strongly correlated systems relevant to quantum information and identify new states of matter in quantum materials. Through involving students in research and collaboration with IQIM at Caltech, we aim to make significant difference for students with diverse background.
