The Water Resources and Policy Initiatives (WRPI) seeks to create a standardized statewide geospatial dataset of water agencies for California. The dataset will contain clean, consistent geometry and key information (attributes) about the state?s array of water agencies and their operations. In order to initiate this effort, the framework for this database, including a standardized classification system and pilot geodatabase, will be developed for the following counties in Southern California: Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, and Ventura. This effort will set up a framework and classification system that can be utilized as the foundation for future, statewide implementation. Development of the geodatabase will occur in collaboration with project partners (staff from WRPI and Mike Reibel from Cal Poly Pomona).
