CSUN is pleased with a new, NASA-funded opportunity that will provide a year-long opportunity for educators to develop their knowledge in the environmental science that provides evidence about the threat to our home on this planet caused by global warming. Through engagement with the CSUN Institute for Sustainability, participants from K-12 campuses will acquire strategies and techniques for engaging students in NGSS-aligned environmental science and sustainability activities. In and out -of -school curricula and instruction in sustainability will be supported by CSUN students through the CSUN Office of Community Engagement. (K-6) educators will participate in workshops offered by LACOE, and Elementary educators will visit the Discovery Cube Los Angeles. Middle school and secondary teachers will learn how to use data collected by NASA earth-observing satellites, to better understand health of our planet.
