The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) is a non-profit organization that has identified a significant gap when it comes to effectively communicating fire safety information to different demographic groups. Because of our experience in working with national organizations such as the American Burn Association (whom we are going to partner with on this project) we have come to realize this gap and that we can make a significant contribution to fire safety education nationwide by bringing together experts in community risk reduction (CRR) and behavioral science to develop effective messaging and techniques that will result in not just communicating fire safety, but resulting in behavioral change. Furthermore, there is no standardized method of evaluating if behavioral change has taken place, and with the same group of experts we would like to develop a tool that can be used by authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) across the nation to evaluate their programs for effectiveness, again based on behavioral science.
