    BOEM Pacific intends to partner with California State University, Northridge?s Center for Geographical Studies (CGS) to improve the Bureau?s geologic and geophysical (G&G) dataset. This mutually beneficial arrangement allows CGS to train its students on a unique dataset that is fraught with real world data management issues while also providing BOEM with collaboration opportunities and an improved G&G dataset to accomplish its mission. However, the main beneficiaries will be the general public, especially coastal residents and local governments of affected States. Better access to BOEM?s pre-spill baseline information ensures that state agencies, universities and research institutions, and others, appropriately manage ocean resources and coastal zones.
