This research program examines the effects of physical fitness program for college students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), gathering quantitative and qualitative data on fitness and physical activity, heart rate, pace, self-determination, anxiety, and health behaviors. The project is directly relevant to public health because sedentary lifestyles within this population can be associated with risks for greater health problems such as obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. Participation in peer-supported physical activity programs are necessary health interventions that can promote healthy behavior and improve physical, mental, and social wellbeing among adults with ASD.
