Improving Diversity and Career Transitions through Society Support (ASCB IPERT Subaward to MariaElena Zavala, Co-PI)

The American of Cell Biology is submitting a proposal to the National Institutes of Health. I am a Co-PI on this proposal. The goal is to increase emerging UR Cell Biologist to engage in cell biology and basic research careers. We will provide year-round developmentally appropriate opportunities including travel awards to attend the ASCB conference, innovative workshops held during the summer, a pre-ASCB conference orientation for all travel awardees, an ambassador program and diversity training for ASCB leadership. The goals are to improve retention of UR in cell biology, change the culture of ASCB to become more inclusive and to provide opportunities for UR to explore career options.
