Project I-PREP: Inclusive Preparation for Resourceful and Effective Professionals

The 3 goals of the project are to (1) recruit and retain 30 new special educators from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds; (2) prepare highly trained scholars with advanced training in positive behavior support, transition planning, academic & language development, and sensory & multiple disabilities, including deaf-blindness. These goals will be implemented in collaboration with Los Angeles Unified and surrounding districts. Scholars will complete a Preliminary and a Clear Education Specialist Credential in the area of moderate/severe disabilities. Each scholar will receive 3 years of financial support as well as ongoing guidance, coaching, and mentoring from university faculty and on-site mentor teachers. The 3rd year will serve as "induction" for first-year teachers.
