The project aims to enhance traffic safety and allocation efficiency of precious safety resources using advanced ranking of statewide collisions. It consists of the regression method and the empirical Bayesian framework. In specific, the crash count models are developed for 13 categories among both counties and incorporated cities in California. To facilitate the model development, the raw data will be collected from various sources including CHP, Caltrans, Department of Finance, and Department of Justice. Finally, the on-call research and response to public inquiry will be performed. The subcontractor from CSUN, or Dr. Jia, will assist the PI at Cal Poly Pomona (CPP) with data collection and model development.
