The objective of this work is to build a large data set, annotated with ultrasonic transducer locations, material properties, and measured ultrasonic signal waveforms at various locations in the material to build up a fundamental understanding of the properties of Lamb wave propagation through manufactured materials with known material defects. Thus, the data set must contain a large number of baseline measurements (propagation through materials with no flaws) as well as test measurements (propagation through materials with flaws of known types and in known locations). The comparison of signal differences allows researchers to build up models which predict a flaw location and type based on sensor readings.
