Sean Genovese
Lecturer
Adjunct Professor - Manufacturing Systems Engineering & Management
Brief Biography
I have an undergraduate degree in Industrial Engineering from Cal Poly, SLO and a Master's Degree in Management of Technology from the University of Texas, San Antonio. The courses of study and culture of these two institutions guides my teaching style. Students in my classes learn from me, each other, and industry guest speakers through traditional lecture, group projects, class presentations and hands-on activities.
Prior to teaching, I spent two decades leading lean transformation and business process improvement efforts in fast-paced companies ranging from startups to Fortune 100 aerospace and defense. I currently operate a consulting practice helping owners who want to grow their small businesses streamline operations and do more with less.
In my spare time, I am a “maker." I enjoy podcasting, writing, and video production. I share weekly thoughts on leadership, innovation, and continuous improvement on social media and via my email community. I host a podcast called "Distracted Driving" where my cohost and I celebrate people who challenge the status quo and drive change in organizations.
I also enjoy making physical things. I have multiple 3D printers and create trinkets for my kids and practical gadgets for home improvement and organization projects. I love to learn how things work and then apply that knowledge to fixing something that was broken or making something better than it currently is.
