Brief Biography

BACKGROUND
Silvia Carpitella received a PhD in Mathematics from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) and a PhD in Technological Innovation Engineering from the University of Palermo (Italy) along with the title of Doctor Europaeus. Silvia has gained a teaching & research background within universities and companies of such countries as United States, Czech Republic, Brazil, Spain, England, and Germany, besides Italy.

RESEARCH
Silvia’s main research interests integrate engineering and math, with a particular focus on decision support systems, treatment of uncertainty affecting human evaluations, mathematical modelling and optimization of safety and supply chain management in industrial contexts. She developed over 80 scientific publications, including articles published in indexed journals and proceedings of international conferences, book chapters, and educational articles. She has been co-supervising doctoral theses, lecturing scientific internships, and tutoring several graduate assistants at CSUN.
