Sophia Hain brings professional experiences spanning the nonprofit, corporate, startup, and academic sectors. Contributing to communities and causes has always been important: centering empathy and support for survivors of rape, sexual assault, domestic violence; authorizing government subsidized childcare services for families in need; encouraging K-12 students to reach higher and dream bigger; guiding college students, particularly those coming from international, immigrant, refugee, undocumented, first-generation, underserved, underrepresented backgrounds, to perform to the best of their abilities while teaching them the importance of the whole self; advocating for candidates to hiring managers from a human-centered approach as a talent acquisition professional.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, she is a proud product of an immigrant family, first-generation college student and working professional, woman of color, and AANHPI community advocate. As an alum of CSUN herself, Sophia is excited to teach within the very department she once graduated from, alongside her former professors and lifelong mentors. She also graduated from University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, with her Master’s in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership with an emphasis on Diversity & Equity in Education.

  • M. Ed. Education Policy, Organization & Leadership: Diversity and Equity in Education 2020, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
  • B.A. Child and Adolescent Development 2013, California State University, Northridge
