One thing that inspires me to do my research is...

the challenge of solving a problem; in original empirical research you start with a research question and testable hypotheses, and if you stay with it, on the other side of the problem set you reveal the answer; that’s exhilarating.

How has your personal background influenced your work at CSUN?

I am where I am because of the investments of others! Although I have long matured passed the tutelage of my parents, I have benefited in so many ways from those childhood and young adult lessons. My father very early pushed me to be a leader. Being the oldest, he always held me accountable for my three brothers. This leadership development has helped me establish a productive learning environment in my classrooms.

Why do you like to work here?

I have been at CSUN for nearly 9 years and what keeps me positive about the work that I do are the precocious students that I teach and mentor, and my colleagues that work towards a more inclusive and cooperative environment here at CSUN and in the world.
