We are here for our students, first and foremost. As someone who has practiced public health in the field as a health educator, then a manager and director of health programs/services, I look forward to helping to educate and train the next generation of public health practitioners for the work force. One of the main goals of public health should always be the removal of barriers to health care. I think the same is true in higher education- my role is to help the student remove barriers to their success be it graduation and/or launching into their careers and to think critically about issues affecting public health today. One of the best things about public health is that it is always changing as community and individual needs change. I hope to bring this passion for public health into the classroom- to help my students find their path to helping others and their community.
